Top 3 Signs You are Working with the Wrong Supplementing Partner

The value that a supplementing service provides to your company should be crystal clear. If you are currently working with a supplementing partner, and are not 100% certain about the relationship, here are three red flags that it might be time to move on:

Red Flag #1: We just don't talk anymore
As with most new relationships, your supplementing partner might come on strong in the beginning -- promising 24/7 access, consistent updates, and special attention. If you are currently receiving these things, go ahead and skip to #2. This is how it should be!

It's possible, however, that over time you've experienced fewer updates and less frequent communications. If you find yourself constantly wondering and worried about the status of your claims -- and unable to reach anyone to get more information -- it's time to reassess whether this partnership is working for you.

Red Flag #2: Being treated like a dime a dozen
All of us want to be treated special, because all of us ARE special. Your needs, your claims, your situation -- all of it is unique and should be treated as such. If someone is giving you one-size-fits-all services, producing generic estimates that are not tailored to your claims, or is unwilling to make accommodations for you, that is a huge red flag.

Red Flag #3: It's all give and no take
In your relationship with your supplementing partner, there should be clear expectations regarding what the two of you will give and receive. While different clients have different expectations, many highlight the need for high supplemental increases and reasonable turnaround times.

If your supplementing partner is only giving you 15% average increases, is that worth your time and investment? Know what you are willing to accept, and make sure your supplementing partner is willing (and able) to work with you to meet your needs.

Bonus Question:
However many red flags were raised, the most important question to answer is this:

Are you ecstatic about your supplementing partner?

Not just satisfied...not just happy...but are you ecstatic? Thrilled? Overjoyed? The level of service and attention that you receive from your supplementing partner should leave you ecstatic. If not, there is room for improvement, and it may be time to take a close look at the relationship.
